Has anyone experience with the Glendronach's Peated? I enjoy a bit of smoke, but I am not a big fan of the heavily peated expressions. If it helps, Talisker is one of my favorites.
Cheers. |

| This is quite a big peated whisky, nice bit of spice also, a superb whisky but it is a heavier peaty style, certainly not a peat monster though. |

| Interestingly, my impression is of something much softer than DanO described (assuming we're talking about this dram). I am quite a big fan of peat tho and love hunting out heavily peated / strongly smokey drams - Octomore, Blackadder Smoking Islay and a very lovely 5yr old cask strength English Whisky Company bottling by MoM. |

I found this one in Colorado today, they wanted $82 for a 750ml. No thanks. |

That doesn't seem outrageous? 700ml would be $53 just on direct currency conversion never mind import/postage etc. What is the usual difference in price UK vs US prices? |

| I have seen it for $45-$47 at other shops in California, I will pick one up next time I am in LA, there is no rush. The same shop wanted $120 for Laguavulin, it's $65-$70 locally. |

$45 ish seems very good value. Cheaper for you than in Scotland!
Always good to have a few benchmark dram prices in your head when shopping in new territory. |

This all depends upon the state the item is sold in. Each state has its own rules, taxes and distributors. California (considered a high tax state) is often cheaper than Arizona (low tax?) Some states have state controlled liquor stores others are open to any qualified business that pays for a liquor license. In other words we don't have a usual, normal or standard pricing or laws when it comes to alcohol. It's all very frustrating. |

being both a peated fan and a big glendronach sherried fan, i bought a bottle last year. At first i wasnt overly impressed and thought the attempt to have a toe in both camps didnt work as well as id hoped, so eventually consigned it to the back of the shelf, BUT when i went back to revisit the half a bottle left 6 months later, (and after it had oxidised a tad) i started to enjoy it more as the flavours really came out, so overall it's worth giving it a spin i think, it's all about personal taste anyway.
check out the reviews on MoM (one is mine) they are pretty fair IMHO
