Was talking to a friend about balvenie 12 and I had it my head it was a 43%. Whisky, my pal said no it's 40%, yes your right I said, well it bugged me all night how I got it wrong , but today I found a miniture that stated it was 43%. So how's that and is the miniture stronger in taste or the same as the 40%? I know you people will set me straight.

It did used to be bottled at the slightly higher strength of 43% for travel retail and some overseas markets such as the US, I am not sure if it still is.

Yeh it still is bottled at 43% in the US, it is no longer available in travel retail AFAIK, it was replaced in travel retail by the Triple Cask range with the Triple Cask 16 probably being quite close in style although not cheap considering it is only 16 years old and only bottled in a 70cl bottle and although the Triple Cask 16 is good I would rate the 12 Doublewood higher.
