Since I started keeping a Scotch Spread Sheet I have tasted over 320 expressions of Single Malt and Blended Scotch. This is one of my favorites . . .

| I wasn't impressed by the Tamdhu 10 which put me off the NAS Batch Strength but I see it has had a few good reviews lately, still difficult to look past the cheaper Aberlour a'bunadh and Glenfarclas 105 for a high strength NAS sherried dram. |

Like others i sadly found this expression not to be anything special, but thats opinion, if YOU like it, who are we to say otherwise. you probably wouldnt agree with our choices either GL
BTW i always keep my malts in their Box or container, away from the light |

| When Ian Macleod took over Tamdhu I did hope we would see some good sherried stuff from the distillery but it has failed to impress me so far. It used to be classified as a 2nd Class malt by blenders, going by what they have released so far and given its reviews perhaps its classification is still correct today and this is as good as it will get, I hope not. |

The old 8 year 70 proof OB with the brown distillery label was excellent and by the tastes I bet there were plenty of older casks in the mix.
Well worth looking out for at auction. _________________ Pour me a glass please. |

I tasted the Tamdhu again last night and I didn't particularly care for it . . . which makes me wonder if different Scotches taste good or bad to us on any given day. |

There's loads of variables from what you've eaten and drunk previously to temperature through to how long it's been in the bottle, how much was in there and how it has been stored.
I'd wager that for most people the whisky changes in the bottle, as opposed to external influences. That said - intangible changes (mood) probably has a lot to do with how one feels when drinking a dram.
I rarely drink peated whisky in the summer, unless there's a fire in the evening to be found. Even good peated drops I've passed over as it doesn't feel 'right' drinking in the blaring heat and no doubt affects how I'm tasting it. |
