Seems the 21 is being replaced possibly the 17 as well.

Still some decent priced bottles of both about for those who enjoy it.

Interesting, and a shame, as the 17 is a cracking dram. Where did you hear this from?

That would be a strange move if they did discontinue the 17 and 21 as they are both highly rated but if it is true it will probably be a restructuring of the core range for financial/profit reasons.

21 mentioned on Facebook and confirmed by Old Pulteney Twitter feed.

17 was mentioned on Facebook as going but not confirmed yet.

To be replaced by older, better quality, higher abv whisky at a cheaper price point (might have made that last week bit up)

I had noticed that the Old Pulteney 21 was difficult to get hold of but had assumed it was due to limited availability due to its age and of course its popularity, it would be a shame if they have discontinued it and the 17.

Let's see what happens.

Inver House know what they're doing and their prices have historically be realistic. I know they have lots of stock so they may be shaking things up. They dropped the anCnoc 16 and replaced with the 18, which is a beaut. Both Balblair and anCnoc are put out in vintage released too and I know they've played with vintages at Pulteney in the past so maybe they're going down that route. Let's them refresh the line each year and play with cask makeup, love what it gives to the Balblair range and the OK spirit is real class stuff so it's worth well.

I have spoken to Old Pulteney and the official line on the Old Pulteney 17 and 21 is:

Quote:
Stocks of Old Pulteney’s award-winning expressions 21 Years Old (World’s Best Whisky 2012) and 17-Year-Old are coming to an end. But good things come to those who wait, so watch this space for news on the release of some other great aged expressions.

I would advise anyone who enjoys these 2 whiskies to stock up now while you have the chance.

The Old Pulteney 17 is still available here

https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/old-pulteney-17-year-old-whisky/ £65.42

https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/4155/old-pulteney-17-year-old £65.55

http://www.htfw.com/old-pulteney-highland-single-malt-17-year-old/?acc=fc490ca45c00b1249bbe3554a4fdf6fb £80.95

https://www.thewhiskybarrel.co.uk/old-pulteney-17-year-old.html £74.10

https://www.thedrinkshop.com/item/3124/old-pulteney-17-year-old-unchillfiltered £70.73

Amazon have a few sellers of the Old Pulteney 17 for around £62+ see here http://amzn.to/2saSd63

The Old Pulteney 21 which is almost impossible to get hold of at an anywhere near sensible price can also be found on Amazon around £129.99 see here: http://amzn.to/2s1pySI

I have a couple of bottles of the Old Pulteney 21 in the cupboard, I had noticed it was hard to get and prices had gone mad, not sure I will open them now as they could buy me more than a few bottles of something just as good.

Nice as the 21 is, it wasn't the best whisky in the world back when it won and that was 5 years ago!! I suppose people are still buying based on that and now it's gone it's going to become some unicorn.

I can find it right now, in stock for between £125 and £140 depending on which shop. It's worth about £100, but I guess in today's market and being 'discontinued' then up to £150 seems reasonable.

Thanks Opel - I've found it for £110 in a couple of places and £100 in one shop. Thought I might buy the last at £100 as it is a great dram.
