|
|
A rare original distillery bottling of Brora 1972 will come up for auction next week, what makes this 44 year old bottling exceptionally rare is that it is the oldest official original distillery bottling of Brora ever to come up for sale and it is also the only bottle to have been drawn from the ex-sherry butt #4817 it matured in.
The Brora 1972 auction will take place next week on Friday 19 May 2017 in Bonhams Hong Kong saleroom as part of Bonham’s ‘Fine & Rare Wine, Cognac and Whisky’ auction which starts at 9.00 GMT (16.00 HKT).
Anyone want to hazard a guess to what it may fetch at auction?

I wonder what happened to the rest of the whisky from the cask.
I will say £45,000, well at least that is my limit and I am sticking to it. |

I am not bidding as I like a bottle to drink and one for the collection.
It reckon it will go for around £18,000 |

| A difficult one to predict, there is a lot of whisky drinkers and collectors in Asia who would pay big for this. A 44 year old 1 of 1 bottle of Brora, I will go over the top and say £55k |

Given were the auction is being hosted I would guess it may sell for £20000 plus |

I think you all have too much money to spare, all your estimates were high, it sold for £14, 534 at auction yesterday. jcarrick was closest with a estimate of £18,000

That's only £29,500 out of my maximum price range. |

I would have guessed around 20,000 pounds. However, the 18,000 sell price would be equivalent to total cost of 537 bottles of Glenfiddich 12 here in Ontario, just saying _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
