|
Greetings all.
I just received 2 bottles of Springbank Local Barley from FedEx. I opened the package to find the bottles had been shipped horizontally. They were in transit almost 72 hours.
Anyone have any idea how long the whisky and cork need to be in contact for any negative effects on the whisky to take place?
Thanks! |

| With the quality of modern corks the whisky would have to be in contact with the cork for quite some time before having any effect on it, weeks even months. I wouldn't worry. |

| I would be more worried about a cork drying out than rotting. And it would take a LONG time for a cork to dry out. |

| Corks dry out more quickly when in contact with high alcohol (like whisky). So when a bottle is on its side it starts to draw the oils out and give you a crumbly cork. Takes a long time though. |
