Getting together with a good friend this evening and looking to find an easy going malt that isn't too strong on the wallet or in abv. Looking at the below options, what would be your picks?

I've already had the JW and HP, so hoping there might be another on the list can hold its own against those two considering they're all fairly similar in price. Cheers.

Aultmore 12
JW Green label
HP 12
Aberfeldy 12
Aberfeldy 16
Deveron 12
Tomatin 12
Benromach 10

I was seriously impressed with the Aultmore 12 recently. So much so I picked it over a Craigellachie 23 at duty free. Pretty complex layers of flavour which gets better with the bottle opened for a while.

I like the aberfeldy 12 and 16 too. More honeyed than the aultmore and not as many notes in there but pretty inoffensive.

Interesting. I've never tried an Aultmore expression. I have the Aberfeldy 21 and its one of my all time malts...so I can imagine the 12 or 16 is good too.

Think my shortlist would be Aberfeldy 12 and Benromach 10 from the list. But you have me wondering about Aultmore now!

Benromach 10 isn't what I'd call "easy going", but it's certainly wallet pleasing and at that price will blow your mind.

Is that because of the complexity you'd deem it not easy going? I'm ok with that Smile

Yeah. I mean you can drink it without thinking about it, but it kinda defeats the whole point of it if you do that Smile

I agree. Certainly need to enjoy the experience. They are not for guzzling! Think I may have misused the word easy going. Was more for something not to peaty, too sherried and not to high of ABV. I picked up the Benromach 10yr Smile
