Hi, I'm looking for some guidance in selecting a whisky to get my husband for our anniversary.
We went to Scotland two years ago and bought whisky at Cadenhead's. The bottle is just about gone and I'd like to find something similar. Here are the details on the label:
Single malt
Distilled at Dailuaine-Glenlivet Distillery
18 years
Oak (wine) cask
We both liked the slight wine flavor but that's not a deal breaker. He found the highlands whiskys way too peaty, so I'd like to select a Speyside.
Thanks![/img] |

Decent Dailuaine bottlings are few and far between, I had the pleasure of the Cadenheads Wine Cask 18 year old from Chateau Laffitte cask distilled 1997, was this the same whisky you are referring to, if so it was by far the best Dailuaine I have ever tasted.
There isn't another Dailuaine that comes to mind which I could recommend that would be in the same class as the Cadenheads bottling. I am sure we could recommend a few good Speyside whiskies, how much are you looking to spend? |

Without knowing what you are looking to spend, a few original distillery bottling Speyside malts which I would recommend as a special gift are:
Glenlivet 21 and 25
Balvenie 21 year old Portwood Finish
The Macallan Edition No.2
The Macallan Estate Reserve
Glen Grant 18
Aberlour 18
Glendronach 21 year old Parliament
Glendronach 18 year old Allardice
Tomintoul 25 year old
anCnoc 24 year old _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky. |

| I think I'd like to stay under $150 (U.S.) if possible. |
