I hope you all plan on raising a glass at some time today to celebrate World Whisky Day, not that you need an excuse. There are a number of events taking place worldwide such as the Loch Lomond distillery giving hill walkers who reach the summit of Ben Lomond today a dram of their Loch Lomond 12 year old.

Loch Lomond are also running a global online competition encouraging Loch Lomond Whisky followers to submit their pictures of any peak in the world with the hashtag #SummitSnap #lochlomondwhiskies. All entrants will be in with a chance of winning award-winning liquid from the Loch Lomond Single malt family.

If you are more the armchair drinker than the mountain climbing drinking then why not join Redbreast Head Blender Billy Leighton in a Facebook LIVE tasting of a rare and exclusive Redbreast Irish whiskey to celebrate World Whisky Day 2017 at 7pm GMT this evening. I will be taking part in the tasting myself.

Have a great day whatever you are doing or drinking.

Slainte

William

I would imagine it is a little wet and breezy up Ben Lomond today, you will need a dram after coming back down.

I will tune into facebook later with a dram in hand, it will have to be a Jameson as I have no Redbreast on the go at the moment.

The Redbreast Facebook tasting has just finished and it was a outstanding single cask expression of Redbreast. As I guessed it was from a sherry cask and a very mature Redbreast. It was matured for 25 years in a bourbon cask followed by 6 years in a sherry cask which it is still in. It is destined to go into the Redbreast 21 but that would be a crime.

I will write up my tasting notes later for it and hopefully some pressure can be put on the powers at Midleton to bottle this as a single cask, a cracking Irish pot still whiskey and a great dram to celebrate World Whisky Day.

Going out for dinner now and a few more drams latter

I watched the show William. Very impressed with your tasting notes which you posted before Billy Leighton revealed what it was and his notes which were much in line wit what you said. Some Glengoyne 21 here for World Whisky Day.

I've been spending it at the Albanach bar in Edinburgh enjoying a good few drams. Octomore being a highlight!

I am very envious William, a 31 year old Redbreast. Making do with a Redbreast 15 here and have a Glenfarclas 17 to open to follow it with.
