|
|
Traveling to Scotland in 4 days and plan on buying 4-5 bottle of good single malt. Would I be better off bringing the whiskey with me and having to content with VAT refund, customs, paperwork ect. or having it shipped home. I've read that Royal Mile whiskey for one, will ship.
Anybody have the skinny on this.
Thanks |

You also have to consider the additional weight in your luggage, 5 bottles are not light and you may incur a charge if you are overweight, maybe worth checking with your airline what this charge will be, as it may work out cheaper to ship the whisky,
Royal Mile Whiskies in Edinburgh will ship 5 bottles to the US for £99. £108 for 6 bottles, they can only ship a max of 6 per package. They will remove UK VAT from the cost of your order, but it may incur local taxes/duties when it arrives in the US.
If you carry the whisky in your luggage yourself you are allowed 1 litre of whisky duty free for each adult person travelling. |

| Personally I would have it shipped rather than deal with paperwork, there are a few good whisky shops that will ship to the US such as www.masterofmalt.com and www.thewhiskyexchange.com |
