Laphroaig have unveiled 2 new travel retail exclusive expression which will be on the shelves of airport shops from April 2017.

Laphroaig Four Oak which as its name suggests has been matured in four different casks; American ex-Bourbon barrels, quarter casks, virgin American oak barrels and European oak hogsheads. Bottled at 40% and will be priced around £50

Laphroaig The 1815 Legacy Edition takes its name from the year the Laphroaig distillery was founded on the Isle of Islay, 1815, it was matured in first-fill American Bourbon barrels then it was finished in larger new European oak hogsheads before being bottle at 48% ABV. Priced around £90

The second sounds a little pricey for a NAS,,, but am I right in saying that NAS from Laphroaig are generally well regarded?

I do hope that the new Four Oak is not a case of taking the Laphroaig Triple Cask one cask too far and the new Four Oak doesn't have the 48% ABV strength of the Triplewood to support it. I found the Triplewood a bit lacking in peat, hopefully not the case with the Laphroaig Four Oak.
I was disappointed with the Triplewood, hopefully the Four Oak is an improvent on it but its a shame to see them bottling it at only 40%.

As long as they are both better than the QA Cask which was a poor excuse for a Laphroaig. At around £90 the Laphroaig The 1815 Legacy Edition will have to be very good indeed for me to look past the Laphroaig PX Cask at the airport.

Cheers William I will look out for them at the airport this summer.

Mark as you say the Laphroaig The 1815 Legacy Edition will have to be something special to pay £90 for it and it is only a 70cl bottle, the 1 litre bottles seem to be getting rarer in travel retail.

My son and I are going to visit Laphroaig in April. Maybe I'll get a bottle at the airport in London on the way home to the States.
