Don't know if anyone has been keeping an eye out, but Bladnoch seem to getting Closer and Closer to realising 3 new expressions.
They had a tasting event in Sydney with owner David Prior on Thursday, where it seemed that the three new bottlings are;
'Samsara' (NAS between 8 and 14 Year Old) - 48.7% Non-Chill Filtered / Natural Colour - 'Our 'Samsara' Single Malt is a special tribute to the rebirth of our 200 year old distillery.
created by Master Distiller Ian Macmillan by blending Bladnoch matured in first fill ex-Bourbon casks along with Bladnoch matured in first fill ex-Californian Red Wine casks, both American Oak. Expect a full bodied and fragrant whisky, with a rich core and lingering tail.'
'Adela' - 15 Years Old Oloroso Cask - 48.7% Non-Chill Filtered / Natural Colour - not to much info on this one as of yet....
'Talia' - 25 Years Old- Finished in new oak. Bottled at 49.2% - Again NCF/NC. Seems like this will only be realised in Australia. Looks like a quality bottle, real shame.
All bottles are square with big heavy metal cork stoppers.
Looks like the last bottle is a 'Australian' exclusive where the other two will be released in the U.K. And Australia only. I really hope this isn't true as it would be a real shame from a very much loved distillery. All do look Brilliant. Released date TBC, but contacted the distillery and ask with the response 'very very soon'. Then ask if it'll be before Christmas, got no reply! |

| We are all rooting for rebirth of Bladnoch but at the moment it’s probably a bigger event in Australia than elsewhere. It’s my favourite Lowland malt but after seeing new square bottles I’m a bit sceptical - I’m afraid of some kind of “Mortlach effectâ€. Well, pricing will tell us more… |

| I've a friend who works in Bladnoch, and he has assured me there will be a limited release of the 25 at the Distillery and to nearby areas. |

Any idea of the price points GM? The 15 has come up for sale in Australia with a RRP of 170$ ... works out at £105... for a 15 Year Old |

Whatever way you cut it, 80 notes for a 15 year old isn't cheap. Makes me wonder whether Diageo actually did sell!!!
Even with recent price rises, this is still about the same money for a Glendronach 18. But then I'm not much of a lowlander fan, I can't remember if the F&F series was sherry casked? That's my only experience with this distillery I'm afraid. |
