Looking to add an Islay to my stock and debating between this and the much enjoyed Bowmore 18.

Had a bottle of Lagavulin 16 a while back and enjoyed. How does the 12yr compare to the 16?

Also I see the 12 is cask strength; any idea if its nc or ncf?

Yes, it's UCF and NC. I haven't tried the 15, but have the 16 and is very much in my cross hairs !

Amazing stuff, and could soon become really stupidly priced.

I just love the Lagavulin 12 special releases and all have been outstanding to date including the 2015 release. If you enjoyed the standard Lagavulin 16 you will love the 12 year old 2015, it is peatier and its strength adds to the pleasure.

Thanks. I didn't see that on the bottle so wasn't sure where I'd find that info!

Don't see the 2016 version here in stock but figure it could be a lot more $ due to 200th anniversary edition.

And thanks Whisky dog as well - does it have more of a Bourbon influence than the 16? Thought the 16 had some sherry cask in there doesn't it?

I would say that it does have a more noticeable vanilla note than the standard 16

Thanks. I was hoping for that. I missed out on Bowmore Tempest so wanted to get a more non-sherried smoker in the lineup Cool
