What is a good Scotch that one cannot get in the US but might could get at Heathrow? Preferably a woody Speyside or an interesting smoky-but-not-too-smoky Island malt around $50-100?

Thanks!

Here is a few travel retail bottles which should be in your price range:

Talisker Dark Storm
Glenlivet Nadurra First Fill, this will be the 48% travel retail 1 litre bottle offering.
Glenmorangie Dornoch
anCnoc Barrow (peaty)
Oban Little Bay
Kilhoman Coull Point (perhaps smokier that you want)
Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Collection which is 3 X 20cl bottles of 19 year old Glenfiddich AoD for around £80, all good whiskies and a good value pack which lets you try all 3 whiskies in the collection.

Sorry for stating the obvious if you already know it, but just in case you hadn't seen it and it's helpful for browsing ahead of time, I think this is the website of the duty free whisky sales at Heathrow (and other airports): http://www.worldofwhiskies.com Not sure how up-to-date the website is. Been too long since I flew through a bigger airport and had luggage room to buy any whisky!

You may like the Highland Park travel retail exclusive bottlings, the Highland Park Einar is pretty good.

I would 2nd the Highland Park Einar and Talisker Dark Storm suggestions , 2 interesting island malts which are not too smoky and usually only found in travel retail.

Thanks for the recommendations!

I got Highland Park Einar, Talisker Dark Storm, and Balvenie Triple Cask. All excellent and all have me thinking about another trip just to buy more.

This forum has real value.
