Looking for another Sherry bottle, what would you recommend vs the Glenfarclas 40 in similar price range? (900-1100 $CDN)

Not sure of you can get them over there, but an old Glen Grant. Usually sherry cask stuff and G&M have a 50yo that's about that pric old sherried Glen Grant us fabulous stuff.

Definitely 20yo+ single cask Glendronach or even better Glengoyne 25 (don’t know the price in Canada).

Hang on, the Glenfarclas 40 is the same price there as the Glendronach 21 and Glengoyne 25 etc? Then get the Glenfarclas, simple!

Why would it need to be similar price range? IMHO the Glengoyne 25 is a better dram at half the price of the farclas

You are right, if the price is not important then there is no need to compare expressions from the same price range.
In my book no one is better than the other - they are simply different. If I want at the specific moment something bold and strong, I go with GD-SC; if I prefer to “swim” in sherry I will take GG-25 and when I need something completely balanced I will reach for GF-40.

Out of all the sherry monsters ive tried, Glendronach is my favourite, but in that sort of price range i dont think you can go wrong with any of the aforementioned bottles. GL

I've never tried Kavalan, but it's very different as it's young and no age stated - it's from Taiwan and maturation is very different out there due to the climate so ages can't be compared to Scottish ages.

In terms of cask; they do a range of bottlings using various casks. The ones you may be thinking of are the Solist bottles which are single casks. They doing many types such as bourbon, Port, lots of different sherry casks (Oloroso, Fino, PX, Amontillado), Moscatel.

Apparently the Oloroso cask (the same sherry that Glenfarclas use) is a sherry bomb.
