Here are my taste notes from the event last night for Kilkerran 12, the first core range product from this distillery.
Color: Hay tinted with fine gold
Nose: Smoky stewed fruit with Empire apple notes, mildly peated walnuts and faint old-fashioned borscht soup with very late honeydew melon.
Taste: Smooth and creamy, coconut and spice melange with a vanilla nougat chaser and then peaches and cream.
Finish: Long, spice, rum and raisin ice cream with late oak and earthy accents.
Comments: This long awaited Campeltown offering has some quite unique and unexpected aromas. It gives the aficionado a lot of processing to do during the experience. Here is a dram with a "visiting uncle from out of town" personality, not one you expected to meet. I quite like it.
Score: 85 _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
