Are we reaching saturation point as far as whisky is concerned?
Massive autumn/winter releases (in time for Christmas) from the SMWS, Cadenheads and Douglas Laing, not to mention the daily new releases on websites like Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange and all the new and ongoing distillery bottlings, there is so much whisky out there these days I can't keep up |

Not sure we have reached this yet, as the prices still seem to be rising indicating to me it's mostly still being sold.. All I know is it's bloody annoying, as I don't have enough cash to respond to my piqued interest in some of the new drams!
Is it NAS or increase production in response to demand, or new distilleries? Probably a bit of each but the drop will come eventually. Just a big cycle! |

I'd totally agree with that, nowhere near enough cash to buy and try all the bottles that I fancy |

You bring up a good point jw. However, it goes back to the idea of "what the market is willing to bear" pricewise. Look for example at sports ticket prices and availability here in North America. Some folks spend thousands of dollars or more for a couple of seats at a "big" baseball or hockey game. There are infinite games to go to. Fishing folk have access to thousand of rods and reels, some at fantastically high prices but keep buying. Whisky especially single malts has entered that arena and there really seems to be little sign that it will end. The so-called bubble bursting that everyone is waiting for may have become reinforced with titanium and is not ready, eager or willing to burst. Just a thought. Cheers! _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Many are drinking whisky (or single malt) because is fashionable.
Fashion is cyclical in nature - it’s just a matter of time when some other drink become more interesting. IMO we have already reached saturation point.
OTOH pre-Christmas craze is in full swing right now - the same as other years… |

| Please can all the 'fashionable whisky drinkers' move on so we can get on with the serious business of drinking quality drams 😜😄 |

| I think that is a usual outturn for Douglas Laing at this time of year, they usually have 4 big outturns per year. Most whisky sales, especially malt whisky sales happen at this time of year so it is no surprise we see a lot of releases. |

In the USA Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer is becoming fashionable again. I can't imagine drinking anything that disgusting (even though I did it 50 years ago). Maybe the 'fashionable Scotch drinkers" will embrace PBR and leave the Scotch to us. |
