Was in Aldi at the weekend and picked up a bottle of their 'award winning' Highland Black 8yo blend for £12.99...

Has anybody else tried this?

I've got to say, that for the money this really is not bad at all, it was a little astringent on first opening but with some time and a little water has settled down into a very drinkable dram.

I've had a few bottles and at first I did quite enjoy it, your right it needs ten minutes to open up a bit, for a blend and it's price then hey it's ok, it's beats the hell out of bells, grouse, grants, and whyte n McKay , I've got a better one for you thow glen orchy 5 from lidl for £13.29 which in my personal view is far more tastier.

Thanks Ralfy Legend, sounds like a trip to Lidl may be required. I do like to have a couple of blends on the go, either as a starter if I plan on a couple of drams or for when I don't want to think too much about it, generally good for hot toddies this time of year too Smile

I have a bottle that I dip into every now and then to see if it has improved over time. For the money it's not undrinkable I guess, but with other whiskies on the shelf to drink it always gets overlooked! I'll give it another go in a couple of weeks...
