I will be heading to Canada end of next year to stay with friends of my wife, so no accommodation cost etc.

I want to take over a couple of decent bottles with me as gifts, was hoping the guys from Canada could let me know what bottles you would love to have someone from th UK bring you so I know what to take.

Obviously got plenty of time to cover special realest, Glendronach etc.

That's a very interesting question GR. Which Province are you going to, Ontario? That's LCBO territory and the single malts though plentiful do not have the range available that you have in Scotland.

I noticed in Forum discussions of the past that sometimes blended malts (or what we used to call vatted malts) of some age, 20 , 30 or 40 years become available over there in UK, distillery not specified though region is and are sometimes at reasonable prices. I believe Tesco was mentioned in this vein which does not exist here in Ontario nor in Canada. That would catch our attention.

Also, anything at 20 years and up here (single malt, blended malt and Scotch blends are in my view overpriced here and sometimes irrespective of taste. A good 20 or 30 year old at more reasonable prices in Scotland for example would be seen as very desirable for us Ontarians.

Cheers Q1 a bit to be thinking about. I have alot of IB Caol Ila sitting around the 30 year old mark might take one of those.

Unfortunately BC is a provincial government controlled liquor system. Worse as they don't have near the selection of the LCBO here in Ontario

Murray is quite right, the older stuff is ridiculously priced here. Feel free to look on the BC liquor website and get a feel for what is and what isn't available along with pricing

Just had a look at the BC liquor webeite and see what you mean about the pricing.

Noticed some big omissions such as Springbank, do you guys never see Springbank? Shocked

Is that really Â£215 In Canada for a 21yo glenfiddich?
Find it for around 110 last time i bought one here......someone is making a hefty profit!
Is it the same mark up for most of the whisky? Id be a beer only man at that price.

I'm fortunate enough to be in the Province of Alberta where prices and selections are excellent. if I had lived in BC or Ontario I would be drinking only Black Label every day.

I echo everyone else's comments here. The older stuff tends to be harder to come by and extremely overpriced. Can't go wrong with any of those.

We get alot of single cask, independent bottlings here in Alberta, but I'm not sure if they are as available in BC. If not then maybe those are worth exploring as well.

A good one if you can get it might be the new compass box release.. It's classed as the oldest 3yo !! Released today and might not make it to Canada.. Worth thinking about ðŸ‘
