Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and am a scotch lover.
I have in my possession a bottle from an unknown date - someone at some point wrote1936 on it...but I have no idea really...posting pictures in the hopes that someone will be able to help me put a value on this bottle and potentially sell it...
please post or PM me your thoughts
From what I can make out from the pictures you have posted it says "By Appointment to the late King George V." (correct me if I am wrong) this would place it as being bottled from 1936 onwards into the 1940's. 1936 is the year King George V died, but I believe Dewar's White Label was still bottled with "By Appointment to the late King George V." on the label into the 1940's.
These bottles can be found in specialist whisky shops for as much as £550 if in very good condition. At auction or a private sale they can fetch £180 plus. You would also have auctions cost, taxes and postage costs to consider.
The values I have mentioned are very much dependent on the condition of the bottle seal, label and level of whisky in the bottle. The label on your bottle looks like it has seen better days which could effect what you may get for the bottle. _________________ There's no bad whisky. Just good whisky and better whisky.
