Of to Sunny Spain on a Thursday and wanted to know if anyone's been to Whiskyworld or
Duty free recently and have you seen anything decent? Had a look on there websites but
It seemed quite limited. |

I just traveled through Heathrow yesterday and there's plenty to be had.
They're having a push on 'smokey' Whiskies so I picked up a bottle of Bowmore Blackrock for £37 - the other standout in that promotion was Laphroaig PX for about £45 (I think - I was a bit rushed).
I was rather tempted to buy a bottle of Bushmill's Sherry cask matured but wasn't quite ready to take the plunge for just under £70. |

£45 for the Laphroaig PX is very good.
Look out for the Glenmorangie Dornoch some airports still have it, it was a limited travel retail release and very good. |

| 1 litre bottles are getting fewer in duty free these days but there are a few. If you like the Aultmore 12 then buying from the airport is a good deal for the 1 litre bottle. |

Age statements are getting fewer in travel retail also. There are quite a few blends appearing these days.
For me the Glenfiddich Age of Discovery whiskies are always a good buy at the airport and they also have an excellent triple pack with a 20cl bottle of each Glenfiddich Age of Discovery bottling for £80 a good way to try all 3. |

There used to be a quite a few gems hidden away in travel retail/duty free, not so many now. Seem to be catering to the mass market gift buyers, with many no age statement whiskies with attractive packaging. Depending what you want to spend there are still a few nice whiskies. the Glenfiddich Age of Discovery whiskies and Laphroaig PX Cask already mentioned are good examples. I don't travel that much myself but my son always picks up something for me as he travels a lot through work.
Travel retail bottles I have had recently which were good and some not expensive:
Glenfiddich Age of Discovery whiskies
Laphroaig PX Cask
Highland Park Einar
Kininvie 17 year old

Sounds great - how much was it? And for 1 litre or 0.7? |

0.7 and was 75£ - judging by the age and the cask strength and the price really not bad at all  |
