Here are my own taste notes from last night's event for:
Caol Ila 12 Year G & M, Conoisseur's Choice 2003 vintage, 46% abv.
Color: Pale gold
Nose: Peat infused with black cherries, sugary BBQ sauce, fruity ice wine, apple n' spice and late perfume essences.
Taste: Full-bodied, creamy, layers of dark chocolate and sweet earthy tones with a hint of cappuchino.
Finish: Long, the peat recedes as the coffee and chocolate notes enhance.
Comments: This Caol Ila expression is not the full-throttle Islay whisky but rather exudes sophistication and proper manners.
Rating: 85.5 _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| This one sounds ok Murray, I find Caol Ila a reliable dram whether it is an official bottling or indie, I have had a couple of G & M in the past, the extra few percentage ABV is what makes these indie bottlings attractive to me. |
