|
|
I finally acquired a bottle of Johnnie Walker Green 15 Year Blended Malt Scotch through a friend visiting New York City. The seal broke in his luggage, minor leakage and some unanticipated charges for checking it raised the price beyond reasonable. However, most of it was intact and here are my first taste notes for this expression. It has not been available here in Canada for some time.
Color-Gold
Nose- Empire apples, cotton candy and vanilla nougat combine to impress followed by green leaf/grassy hues, assorted flavored jelly beans and faint black licorice. Thick cherry sauce erupts with summer meadow flowers featuring giant sunflowers, some citrus notes and late mild Turkish delight.
Taste: Medium to full-bodied. Mouth-watering then mouth-coating. Spice, green chilies, menthol and layered pine notes create the palate.
Finish: Long, the spice diminishes as the green minty tones rise with breath freshening qualities. An effervescent spearmint cleanliness comes to the fore. After-Eight chocolate mint candy knocks on the door late.
Comments: The JW 15 is a delightful dram. This is quite a different JW expression from what I have experienced. The nose is tantalizing. The palate and finish are close relatives who maintain their mutual understanding and connectivity. The Cragganmore and Linkwood influences are evident to me here.

| Great note Murray, I am pleased they have brought this back, I assume it was mature stock levels which caused its disappearance for a while. |

Hi James. Unfortunately, it is not back here in Ontario, Canada and no indication that it ever will be as far as the LCBO is concerned but it is available in the USA as well as parts of Europe. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| It would be interesting to compare the 15 with the Island Green. I am guess you may find the same sort of peat smoke levels in the Island Green that you find in the Johnnie Walker Double Black which is a very good smokier spin off of the 12 year old Black Label. |
