While in Montreal last week, I visited the flagship store, SAQ Signature in Complexe des Ailes downtown where they had single malts up to $25,000 CDN a bottle. Amazing selection.

I had a great chat with the staff there and I ended up leading a tasting with a dram I never had before:

Dailuaine 18 Year Old Particular 48.4% abv.

Here are my taste notes from that day:

Color:Light Gold

Nose: Light floral elements with citrus fruit, dried apricots instantly impress. Cotton candy on the stick wafts by and captivates as does the orange treacle tart.

Taste: Full-bodied and smooth. There is a definite spice hit with some heat and a peppery under-carriage. Very satisfying.

Finish: Long, the oaky tones really work here with salty-woody essences from an old sailing ship.

Comments: This expression is quite captivating with a really nice balance of aromas and flavors.
