Hi guys,

I know this has been covered at various points over the years, but I've recently moved house and am sorting out contents insurance. Need to add the whisky to the insurance but it's difficult to work out which of the normal insurance companies are happy to cover your consumables... Does anyone here insure their whisky and through whom is it covered? I'd prefer to bundle it in with the regular contents policy than go through a specialist.

Thanks in advance!
John

I looked into this some time ago and found insurers not very keen to bundle a consumable item such as whisky into normal home insurance. Have you called around for quotes,

I was hoping to find someone on here who had already done the leg work of calling round. Then I'll know who to call!

Thanks Mr C - I just spoke with them and because whisky is neither precious metal, fur, stamp, medal, jewellery or work of art (debatable!) it does not require specific insurance/listing. I have a couple of very expensive bottles that will happily fall within their regular policy. Perfect. And simple!

I ended up going through the post office insurance - they were fine about the whisky. Direct line were also fine but twice the price! All rather simple in the end. Cheers
