Murray's Taste Notes for Tomatin Cu Bogan

Here are my own taste notes from my club's tasting and dinner last night for:

Tomatin Cu Bogan 46% abv., mix of Virgin Oak, Bourbon and Sherry Casks.

Color: Gold

Nose: A rush of oaky tannin followed by bulrushes and woody-forest notes.

Taste: Medium-bodied. Initial Turkish delight which evaporates quickly. Peat and spice intersect with malty notes. Oak and pepper continue to play but foment a bitter facade.

Finish: Lingering, spice, leather and something akin to roasted chestnuts but yet again that bitter taste,

Comments: The Cu Bogan frankly did not light my fire. I found it sharp, uneven and bitter at times. Not what I have come to expect from Tomatin.
