I haven't reviewed this one for a while and thought it was time for retaste. Here are my notes and rating from today.

The Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve

Color- Amber sunset

Nose: Adriatic & Black Mission figs flaunt sweetness and poise in quick succession in an olfactory dance. Aromatic pipe tobacco fills the hall in style with shades of prune nectar. Niagara ice wine sends a greeting card. A nutty paste satisfies.

Taste: Full-bodied. Syrupy, spice with tinges of molasses from sun-ripened cane. A river of dark honey runs through it.

Finish: Long, stewed dark fruit, black grape compote and caramelized figs with hints of Macedonian Mastika (anise-flavored liqueur).

Comments: The pungent nose is just remarkable with intensity and finesse at the same time, impressive and a hard feat to duplicate. The Matusalem sherry influence shows its calling card in spades. The palate and finish encourage the voluptuous nature of this expression and underscore its deep tones.

Rating: 90

***Jim Murray must have had a bad day when he rated this one as in my view he missed the point completely of this memorable fine expression from Dalmore even without a cigar pairing. Wink

Cheers for the note, out of interest what do you have to pay for a bottle of the Dalmore Cigar Malt in Canada, it is almost £70 here.

Actually J, this whisky is no longer available here but I paid $180. CDN. or 95 pounds equivalent when it was on the LCBO shelves.
