Murray's Taste Notes for The Ileach Cask Strength, 58%abv.

Here are my own taste notes from my club's tasting and dinner last night for:

The Ileach Cask Strength Peated Islay Malt, 58%abv
(not the 56%abv listed on their website).

Color: Heavy amber

Nose: Peat, billowing smoke and cherry pie. Cotton balls soaked in salt and smoke. Iodine with a sweetish tinge awakens synchronously with black cherry puree and raspberry sherbet.

Taste: Peat on full bore with strawberries and cream, medicine cabinet floating on seaweed and brine. A warm glow from head to toe.

Finish: Long, berry throat lozenges with minty elements. Peat and sweet maintain a brilliant chorus.

Comments: The Ileach 58% abv. is a solid dram which presents older than its NAS. It clearly is a superior dram with no pretence to be otherwise. This cask strength formula is superb.
