Thought I would post my re-taste from today for Glenfarclas 105, 60% abv. Haven't reviewed this one for a while so I thought I would have another dram today and present notes.

Color-Midnight amber

Nose: Ripe "Brown Turkey" figs, pungent tobacco leaf and heavily layered walnut torte cake awaken in synchrony. Black Forest cake drenched in rum fills the senses. The 60% abv. brilliantly lghts up the nose with the deep sherry influence adding fuel to this delectable fire. There is a nutty paste, fondant-like, bringing up the rear with thick Australian black licorice and tart McIntosh apples. Wine-dipped cigars cement the deal.

Taste: Full-bodied with tremendous mouth-coating properties. Spice, nut and hickory notes on a twirling sweet and peppery revolving door accelerate the palate process.

Finish: Long, dark sweet cherry blast, concentrated sherry notes and intense Cherries Jubilee. Shades of mint leaf slide into the equation.

Comments: The nose on the Glenfarclas 105 is bold and powerful. It's olfactory mark is not soon forgotten and impresses. The term "dynamite in a glass" would be appropriate and the resultant kaleidoscope of flavors, penetrating.

Great notes, the 105 is a great cask strength sherried dram that doesn't always get the praise it deserves, perhaps overlooked by many in favour of the Aberlour a'bunadh.

I agree the Glenfarclas 105 is very good. What is more appealing to me about the Aberlour a'bunadh over the 105 other than the slight price difference is the Aberlour a'bunadh is slightly different with each batch

I agree the 105 is brilliant and often under looked. As is the Glenfarclas Heritage which as far as I'm aware isn't a UK release. Same deal though 60% NAS goodness. The 105 20 yo is pretty awesome too although does command a premium price tag.
