I opened my Aberlour A'bunadh batch 53 last night and was blown away by it.

The only other fully sherried whisky I've had is GlenDronach 15.

Are there any better ones which I should be trying. Not so much particular batch number but other sherry whisky's

They're both cracking drams - the GlenDronach 12 and 18 as well are excellent. If you're after sherried whisky, you can't look past Glenfarclas. The 15 is a rival to the GlenDronach 15 in my opinion, and arguably better than some of the older expressions. It's certainly more heavily sherried than the lighter 21, and personally I prefer the 15 over the Glenfarclas 30 as well.

There are some stunning sherried whiskies out there, if you can stretch a little then look no further than glendronach single cask offerings, the 2002 and 2003 versions are pretty good, Auchentoshan have a superb single barrel bottle your own but it won't be around for long..

Another vote for the Glendronach and the Glenfarclas from me. Had a couple of fantastic Single Cask Glendronachs and the distillery tour is great too. The Glenfarclas 15yo is excellent (full of character) and the 105 is an interesting proposition too Smile Also tried a fantastic Single Cask 'C' Glengoyne at a very special Managers Tour and an amazing sherried Bunnahabhain from Signatory when I visited Edradour - there are some amazing sherried drams out there - my advice, try as many as you can Smile

To be fair it's pretty hard to beat A'Bunadh, especially for the price. I do like Glenfarclas 15 and would rate it the bed in their norm range (excluding the now highly priced 40yo), but I've had a bottle or too with some less than top notch casks that took the edge off. I've never had a bad A'Bunadh.

You won't get an old Glendronach 15yo now for a decent price, since it was discontinued.(last bottling were actually around 20/21 yrs old)

Arbeg Oogie if you like peat with your sherry.....

Not the original price but they are still around for 90 EUR (£72).

Glendronach 21 Parliament. I still dream about it. And I have not found a sherried number that comes close at any price point.

Like Opel said the Oogie is a fantastic peated sherried whisky. If you like that I sagest the Bowmore Lamerig 15. Cask Strength too, it's an absolute corker.

Agreed with all above, I got the Aberlour batch 50 and it blew me away. Anybody know what sort of age they are?

Vary by batch, but generally they contain whisky of casks from around 5 years old (for the power and usually first fill) up to around 25 years old (for the depth and maturity). Obviously, the amount of old whisky will vary depending on stock levels but they try to produce a whisky with a certain profile, so the casks are selected on that basis, rather than for their age alone.

Like others said, the Ardbeg Uigeadail is an outstanding whisky, but it's the peat that dominates, don't expect a sherry monster there. Personally I think the Lagavulin Distillers Edition displays more obvious sherry influences than the Ardbeg, so it should probably be your first port of call for sherry + peat if sherry is your main priority.

The best sherried whisky that I've had the pleasure of trying was the Glenlivet XXV.

Still waiting for the LCBO to restock.....*sigh*

Where would you say the Glendronach 12 fits into this?

Not on the list. It's good but compared to some of the others mentioned way off. Did I mention the 21 is awesome?

If you like the cask strength youngish sherried drams then Glenfarclas 105 is worth looking at, a superb dram for the money. Another superb sherry cask whisky which comes to mind which wont bust the bank is the Balvenie 15 Single Barrel Sherry Cask
