Douglas Laing adds "The Epicurean" Lowland blended malt to its Remarkable Regional Malts collection.

The Epicurean is a dram which the Glasgow based bottler describes as "city born and bred". Douglas Laing tell me that The Epicurean is "a marriage of some of the finest Lowland Malts; bringing together the best that the East and the West of Scotland have to offer. Bursting with barley, citrus, floral and herbal notes".

Interesting...

I attended a DL Tasting towards the end of last year where we got to try the other whiskies in the series - they were all pretty good but the Big Peat stood out for me and for the other guys I was with (who aren't massive fans of peaty drams).

Funny that you mention the cocktail shaker, as part of the tasting we were given a Whisky and Ginger Ale cocktail (with lots of ice) using Scallywag as the base - it was very refreshing and I could see it an alternative for a longer cooler drink on a warm summers day.

I've a pretty limited experince of Lowlands malts, so would be interested to try this but can't see myself rushing out to buy a bottle...

I think the malt whisky cocktail and long drink market is becoming more and more trendy so it makes sense that Douglas Laing would aim for that market and I am sure it will be an easy drinking blended malt by itself. I wonder if it will be priced below or inline with the other Remarkable Malts.

jcarrick The Epicurean will be priced around £37 which is in line with the other whiskies in DL's Remarkable Regional Malts collection.
