Murray's taste notes for Lismore 21 Year, 43% abv.

Here are my own taste notes and review of Lismore 21 Year that I wrote during my attendance at the Scottish Craftsmen's Association 19th Ann. Whisky Experience last night in Niagara, Ontario.

Color- Copper pot amber

Nose: Ripe bananas and rum and raisin ice cream willingly invade the olfactory sense in a pleasurable experience. Summer meadow flowers, pineapple slices, intense orange and marshmallow-surprise layer on in a sweet cornucopia of aromas. A waterfall of liquid caramel, almond nougat with vanilla infusion, buttered popcorn and banana split fill-out this dram's portrait.

Taste: Full-bodied. A lovely hit of Mediterranean spices merge with a classy oak profile. Stewed fruit follows with an edge and a hint of mint leaf.

Finish: Long, lovely tartness and oak reminiscences which welcome the ebb and flow of caramel and cream. The late apricot jam entices.

Comments: The Lismore 21 Year was a really pleasant surprise for me. This "mystery malt" strikes me as being of mature Glenfarclas origin though some folks have mentioned the possibility of it being Glenrothes. The nose on this one is absolutely spectacular. The finish is outstanding, maintaining the balance and complexity from nose to palate to finish. I can't wait for more offerings from this independent bottler..

You may be right with your thought that this is Glenfarclas, I thought so also when I had it around 12 years ago now if I recall correctly, a cracking sherried whisky whatever it was.
