Murrays Taste Notes for Ardbeg Corryvrekan 57.1% abv.

Here are my own taste notes and review of Ardbeg Corryvrekan 57.1% abv. I wrote during my attendance at the Scottish Craftsmen's Association 19th Anniversary Whisky Experience last night in Niagara, Ontario.

Color-Summer gold

Nose: Iodine and medicinal tendrils entwine like DNA filaments along with smokehouse essences and bulrushes. Smoke swirls around nutty nougat while tobacco leaves hang in the drying barn along with a salty sailor's pipe tobacco. Red Australian licorice waves late.

Taste: Full bodied. Potent peat with layers of Liverpudlian "sticky lice" and a full medicine cabinet. Black ball candy from my youth erupts with that change from licorice to "sweet".

Finish: Long, the medicinal threads persevere with cotton balls soaked in peat.

Comments: Here we have the full monty of Islay in a glass. It's clearly the real deal!
