Good morning all. Well, good morning as it is on the west coast of Canada at this moment.

I wanted to stop in and ask for suggestions for a nice scotch as a gift to a budding scotch collector. She is leaving my company for greater pastures and I would like to send her off with a nice bottle as she's invited me out to her home numerous times for a night of scotch.

She's always had an affinity for Dalwhinnie 15 year and she always spoke highly of a Macallan single malt, but I can't remember which one.

She is not much for the smokey peated flavor (unfortunately, because I am really liking the peated whiskeys lately). I believe she likes the more floral/spicey types.

Anywho, if anyone has some suggestions, I'd love to hear it. Keep in mind that I am in Canada, so selection may differ but by all means, throw any suggestions my way. I can be a resourceful bugger when I need to be.

Cheers

I think the big question is how much are you looking to spend?

That's a good question. Somewhere between $100-$200 CDN.

Hi Ross. I checked the BC Liquor site. If your colleague likes Macallan, you can pick up the MACALLAN - 1824 SERIES SIENNA for $179.99 CDN. I'm sure she would like it.

66 BC Liquor stores carry it.
Very Happy

The Balvenie 15 Single Barrel
is not available at this time on the LCBO website nor the BC Liquor website. They do have the 12 Year in both provinces which would not be my first choice..

If she likes Dalwhinnie then some other clean and we'll made highlanders would be; anCnoc 16yo (if you can get it) and anything that's 15yo + from Balblair. Both come in at 46%, natural colour and un-chill filtered and have an inherent fruity and spicy nature.

Another good shout would be Arran. 16, 17 or 18. Unpeated islander but shares a lot in common with a proper Highland malt, they have a great wood policy too so you get very well done cask influence.

Clynelish if you're feeling a but adventurous as it's very spicy and has a lot of complexity.

What about Glendronach 21 Parliament or Highland Park 18?

Not too concerned with the LCBO stock.

The Balvenie Single Barrel 15 yr Sherry is a staple on the Shelves in BC, when it's gone, it's replaced rather quickly. Funny that it's gone now, when there was so many available just a few short months ago when I was there.
