| I have never sold a collection only a bottle or two at any one time and my experience of scotchwhiskyauctions.com has been fine but they have recently been known to have had some website technical problems at the end of auctions which must have effected the final selling price, there web hosting service has not been up to the amount of traffic the web site gets approaching the end of an auction. Not sure if this is sorted now. |

I've used a couple and quite like Just Whisky. Worth getting in touch if you want an idea of pricing and take it from there. I think their charges are competitive and a nice bunch of guys as well. Their next auction goes live the end of the week.
Plenty of competition in the marketplace so worth a bit of pre-selling research. |

There is a new whisky auction site called Whisky Hammer which has its first auction starting on Monday.
It may be worth watching to see how that one goes as I believe they are continuing to offer 0% commission for sellers. |

IT depends a bit on what is n your collection. There are advantages to different companies. For really rare high end bottles, even though their premium is high an service less than spectacular, Whisky-online is really the best site, although after their higher premiums, I'm not sure you would end out any better, Scotch whisky auctions is clearly the biggest and their service is second to none, but they can often have quite a few of the same bottle which sometimes depresses the price (although usually not). But they surely have the most bidder which is obviously good and oten prevents bottles for falling through the cracks. Between Just whisky and Whiskyauctioneer I personally prefer Whisky auctioneer and think it might get a hair better results but I am not sure.
Of course, for certain bottles private sale can often leave you in the same place. |

Hey Wharfedale - what is your objective? Save a bit of space? stopped drinking? Want a new collection?
Depends what you're into and what is in your collection. If you e got some sort of high end investment portfolio then auction is your best bet - any of the previous auctions mentioned will work. However, if you want it to go to drinkers then maybe offer some stuff up on here? |
