I'm traveling to the UK in April, I get there maybe once a year. Last time I got great bottle, Springbank 18, which is hard to get in the US.

I like the Highland/Speyside/Campbelton malts, not crazy about heavy Islays, although I love the Bunnahabhain 18.

Any suggestions on bottles I should look into? Something more local I might not find in the States? My price range is up to US$150 for a 70cl bottle

Thanks!

Head to Milroys in Soho. Have a chat with the guys. Very knowledgeable great selection at extraordinary prices (considering their location). Sample a few drams and then hit the bar downstairs. As to what to buy, my knowledge of the US whisky market is limited but I would have thought the guys at Milroys might be able to steer you in the right direction.

Milroys is great, but so is the Cademhead's shop near Baker street.
Royal mile whisky in Bloomsbury, Vintage house Soho, whisky exchange covent garden, - and for fun, Harrod's and Selfridges to make a day of it...

The Whisky Exchange and Royal Mile whiskies both have exclusive bottlings that are done for them by distilleries, they are only available from TWE or RMW. You can get them online too, but you may find some other gems in store that you won't find state side.

Thanks Gents!

Those sound like great ideas. It helps to have a guide to malts that I can't get here.

Appreciate the help!

I'll be popping into town on Saturday- I may have a quick tour of all these shops mentioned above (purely for research purposes..!)

What a trooper! Just looked at the websites for Millroy's and Cademhead's, they look perfect to spend a day.

TWE have just opened a new store just of the strand too, right next to Covent Garden. If that's closer to your hotel it helps!

TBH I don't know where they'll put me yet. But I'm planning on coming in a day early and devoting that day to my malt quest!
