Just a quick note to let you know I am moving www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk including the SMW Forum to a new server tonight. If all goes well you will not notice any difference but there is a slight possibility you may experience an interruption to the service or some posts may be lost in the switch over.

Hopefully you wont experience any interruption and it all goes well.

William, I had a bit of trouble accessing the forum section the rest of the site was ok, looks fine now though.

William, I guess you are still in the middle of the server change over, not sure if this helps but I posted a couple of posts which have now disappeared but all appeas to be functioning now. Cheers.

Thanks Grant and Alastair, I had a bit of trouble with the database on the new server, I still have a few things to do but it shouldn't interfere with the forum. Then I can have a drink as I think I need one.

If anyone has any problems let me know.

I received a database error about an hour ago, not seen any issues now. The site is very fast now, the best I have ever seen. Good job Sir! Very Happy

William one small problem I spotted is some characters are not appearing correctly in posts, such as the Â£ pound or $ dollar sign, see here for example http://www.scotchmaltwhisky.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5667

The copyright symbol at the bottom of the page is also not appearing correctly.

Edit the Â£ pound or $ dollar sign appear correct in new posts but not in old posts. The copyright sign isn't appearing correctly for me in any posts.

Hi William. This is my first post since you set up the new server. I know how big a job that was and I'm sure you're relieved that it has gone well and a few minor glitches were probably expected before it sailed along just fine.

It appears some people are still being served the website from the old server, I just logged into the old server and there are still some new/recent posts on there. I just spotted one rom rx_evolv in Canada and opelfruit in the UK about how many bottles open at a time. Also a few on the what your are dramming now thread.

I can only apologise for this crossover, it is outwith my control. I updated the Nameserver (DNS) last night, this basically tells your computer where to find the site. This updates pretty fast but can sometimes take up to 48 hours to propagate around the internet.

So once again if you have missing posts, I can only apologise.

Cheers Crane, I spotted the characters problem, it has got me scratching my head at the moment, I reckon it may be related to the newer version of PHP I am using on the new server.
