I have an opportunity to buy a bottle of 26 year old Glendronach specially bottled for the Trump Golf links at Balmedie. These retail at £195.
The difference is I have the chance to buy one of these signed by Donald Trump. (At a higher cost)
I realise many may say this could decrease the value and everyone will have their opinion on him. But I'm wondering in all seriousness what you thought this could go for at auction.I'd be buying it purely as an investment. He clearly has a big following in America
Thanks

Craig, what do you call "a higher cost"? _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Glendronach are known to bottle some cracking older whisky and I am sure Donald Trumps signature will add some value to the bottle, is there some sort of certificate of authenticity for the signature, this makes this sort of things more appealing and easier to sell. It is always difficult to say how much a signature will add to the value of a whisky but I would say it wouldn't be worth more than it is now, unless of course he does get elected as the next US President |

| Ask ebay what his signature is worth. Might give you an idea of its potential. |

My opinion.. Nope..
Sorry but I would not pay £300 for his signature.. Especially on a great bottle like that that I want to drink |

| Craig, this is a good question. I originally come from Fraserburgh so not much to the north of Balmedie. I spoke to TIG this morning and ordinary bottles are retailing for £195 like you say but where else can you find them in the UK? I have only sourced one other bottle and that's for sale at £550! The packaging as you would expect for Trump is top quality for these whiskies and Glendronach is a quality brand. I am going home at the end of March to visit family and am looking to pop in by the golfcourse and purchase several unsigned bottles and hopefully a couple of signed ones. His profile is growing all the time (if that is really possible!) with his successes in the USA presidential race and can you really see any of the other Republican candidates beating him? And if so do you think he can possible beat Hillary Clinton if she is the Democrats final choice to run as President? With these bottles you are not looking at the whisky itself but the association and the signature. This was a single cask of 504 bottles as far as I am aware and I'd guess only around 20% maximum of these will be signed by the man. I know I am going to be buying next month when I am up to see family. Think politics and profits not just whisky and the domestic market. |

does he sign in a certain place say a spare label on the back
I have seen some famous people sign straight over the label to me it devalues it quite a bit
to the collector |

| Just a follow-up to the message I left a few months ago. I sold my last 2 bottles of Trump International Scotland whisky at auction this month. Unsigned bottle went for £450 and signed (on the box) whisky sold for £1950. Cost prices were £195 and £500 respectively. Good profits on all 4 bottles I purchased at the end of March. So, in answer to your original question, YES YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE SIGNED BOTTLE! |

Personally, I can't imagine why anyone would want something signed by Trump!
It is truly scary that such a man (using the term extremely loosely) conned nearly half of a first-world country into believing that he was fit to lead a superpower. |

Well, I'm sure there are people out there who collect signatures who would think it's crazy that people spend £100ish or more on whisky....
And this isn't just a signature. Whatever you think of Trump, he's ultimately President of America and presidential memorabilia is really quite a big thing. If you had signatures from each of the previous Presidents then this is just the next one in the line for you to get.....and you know what collectors can be like
Whether it's a signed t-shirt, photo or a bottle of scotch is irrelevant. It's signed. So I do understand it. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |
