Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone had any thought about if the Famous Grouse 30 year old is any good or not? I don't drink that many blends, and have seen a couple in my local liquor shop. Is it worth the money or would you not bother?

Another question is I have seen both the newer style in the grey/purple box, and the older style in the canister. Any opinions on which is better?

Delboyscap it is a blended malt and it is or I should say was an excellent whisky as I believe it has been discontinued. It is a few years since I had a bottle but it was very good. I always thought that it must have a good portion of Highland Park in it and no doubt a bit of Macallan and Glenturret to make up the blend. It really was an outstanding blended malt.

From my experience the different packaging styles are no more than that, just different packaging styles, the whisky in the bottle was the same IMO for a bottle I had in a tube and a bottle which I had which came in a box.

Hi Keith,

Thanks so much for that information! Good to know they are basically the same contents. I just thought it may have been the case as with a lot of newer whisky that the older style may have been just a shade better?

I will probably take a punt on this then. I have seen it for a decent price considering as you say it is discontinued. Thanks again!
