Three very different styles, one bottle to buy - which should I go for?

- Bunnahabhain Ceobanch
- Nikka Taketsuru NAS
- Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso

I'm usually a big fan of Bunnahabhain and Japanese whiskies, as well as Islay and sherried in general. As my nose doesn't work, I usually avoid anything "light" as I can't smell or taste it...

I found the Bunnahabhain Ceobanach to be lacking a bit, I found it young, still a pleasant malty sweet dram with a nice touch of smoke. Personally I enjoyed the Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso but I would say the standard 16 and First Fill Nadurras are superior but perhaps just my personal preference.

Is that the Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt you are referring to? If so it is very good. I will echo Carsons comment on the Nadurra.

Thanks all, I have the Nadurra 16 and Nadurra 91 Triumph, out of the two the Triumph is my favourite. Yes it's the Taketsuru Pure Malt, I have the Nikka Pure Malt Red, Black, White and Coffey Malt. On the Bunnahabhain front I have the 12, 18 and Cruach Mhona.

All of which I like, hence the difficulty in choosing... Smile

For me it would be a choice between the Nikka Taketsuru and the Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso both good but if forced to pick one it would be the Glenlivet Nadurra

For me I've gotta go with the Bunnhabhain - I've yet to find one that I don't like. I've got a Nikka but not tried it yet, but the Glenlivet was a bit ' non descript' for me - I often find Glenlivets' too 'peppery' for me - but that's a personal thing.
