Whisky Forum - Just picked up Chivas Regal in Unusual Pouch

I picked up a bottle of Chivas Regal 12 today and it was not in the typical box. All the other ones on the shelf there were in the usual silver box. This one was in a large red velvet pouch with gold tassels and the word "Chivas" embroidered at the bottom in gold. The velvet pouch is embroidered with a lot of Japanese or Chinese writing.

I couldn't find a similar pouch on the net. I saw some Royal Salute bags but this is nothing like it. Anyone familiar with this one in my photo?

I sent an email to the powers at be about this last week. Just got a reply to my email. Chivas wasnâ€™t aware of this bag as it was a special promotion that the Canadian marketer and distributor for Chivas was only doing locally in the LCBO where reps were attaching these bags onto the Chivas 12YO for the Chinese New Years celebration. The bag says â€œHappy New Yearâ€ â€" the left side in Mandarin and the right side in Cantonese.
