Glenglassaugh has released Batch 2 of its critically acclaimed Glenglassaugh Rare Cask single cask bottlings. This second batch is made up of eight single cask treasures. There are certainly no youngsters amongst this second batch, the eight new single cask whiskies vary in age from a 36 year old to a very rare 42 year old.
The Glenglassaugh Rare Cask Series Batch 2 includes:
Glenglassaugh 1972 Cask No. 2125 42 year old
Finished in Massandra Madeira Puncheon and bottled at 47.3% ABV, 124 bottles.
Glenglassaugh 1973 Cask No. 1865 42 year old
Finished in Massandra Aleatico Hogshead and bottled at 40.5% ABV. 175 bottles.
Glenglassaugh 1973 Cask No. 761 41 year old
Finished in the a Rum Barrel and bottled at 41.1% ABV. 100 bottles.
Glenglassaugh 1974 Cask No. 1282/1 41 year old
Finished in the a Rum Barrel and bottle at 40.8% ABV. 184 bottles.
Glenglassaugh 1975 Cask No. 2180 40 year old
Finished in Massandra Madeira Puncheon and bottle at 43.9% ABV. 588 bottles.
Glenglassaugh 1975 Cask No. 3171 40 year old
Finished in Pedro Ximenez Sherry Hogshead and bottled at 40.2% ABV. 205 bottles.
Glenglassaugh 1976 Cask No. 3170 39 year old
Finished in Pedro Ximenez Sherry Hogshead and bottled at 40.3% ABV. 205 bottles.
Glenglassaugh 1978 Cask No. 1118/8 36 year old
Finished in Port Hogshead and bottled at 43.6% ABV. 276 bottles.
Glenglassaugh has some great older bottlings - I tasted a couple of fantastic 40yo on distillery visit few year ago. Would really like to taste these rum casks but the price is just too high.
Too bad that they don't have single cask bottlings in the range of 20-25yo, similar as their sister distilleries (Glandronach and Benriach) because it was mothballed in 1986:
