Here are my taste notes for this expression that I opened yesterday. I was able to get 3 bottles here in Ontario, Canada for just under 54 British pounds equivalent each.

Bowmore The Devil's Casks Limited Release III 56.7 ABV Double the Devil

Color- Dark Honey

Nose: A rose-bush with candy coated peat slowly blooms to full splendour while dark chocolate infused with Maraschino cherries erupts with a passion. The inherent thick sweetness of red berry jam melds with the nectarous peat. A marvelous pungent pipe tobacco smokes away with deep sherry and honey accents. Caramelized apple slices and apple cider essences close up the rear with chocolate macaroons.

Body- Full

Taste: Peppery peat explodes, brilliantly and instantly warming; syrupy, green chili lights up the palate in a hurry in spades and then settles down promoting a nutty, dark chocolate and peaty melange.

Finish: Long, cherries jubilee fired up with Kirschwasser liqueur; sticky lice in the background awakens. Cinnamon sticks come to the fore. The pepper which took a grand bow during the taste phase exits stage left after having played its part leaving more moderate peat and black licorice.

Comments:
Double the Devil yields a substantial nose to remember. This is a potent dram that leaves nothing to the imagination. It engages full throttle, building increasing potency and then redirects in smooth fashion a delightfully weighty taste profile to a classy finish. The NAS designation takes nothing away here. Thumbs up on this one.

Rating: 95

*************************************************************
With a few drops of spring water: The nose develops a marked perfume and sweet nougat profile with honied summer flowers. The taste still shows burgeoning peat now with sunflower seeds. The finish with water drops is more subdued. I prefer the dram neat.

£54 Shocked £190 in TWE, a bargain. The price stopped me getting the Devils Casks 3, too many whiskies with age statements at £190 and to me the age does have a big say in the value/price.

Pleased to hear it is a good one for those who did pay big money for it.

Sounds like you enjoyed your bargain Murray, thanks for the notes on this one, there are not that many reviews around for it given its price tag.

That's high praise Murray, I am another who enjoyed the first 2 releases but didn't see how the price was justified on the 3rd, I would have snapped it up at the price you got it for.
