Hi all,

I am very new to the world of whisky and hence do not know much about it. When visited some super markets websites or actual shops, I have noticed that Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury, Waitrose all have their own branded products. I was wondering if you know who make those products for these super markets and if these products are good.

I am looking to buy some whisky as presents to friends but have a budget so these products appeal to me.

Many thanks for your help and I hope to hear from you soon.

Happy Easter and all the best,

D

Hi

I will quote Fergie who gave a good answer to a similar question in another post:

The distilleries will never want you to know what is actually is in the supermarket label whisky because if you knew you would not pay the extra £10plus for the distillery label bottle.

As far as what is in the supermarket bottles you can make an educated guess to what is in most of the bottles if you are famular with most distilleries whiskies but what is in supermarket bottles can change at anytime just depends where the supermarket sources the whisky. What i can say is all supermarket whisky i have tried has been very good for the money. My top supermarket choices would be Tesco Highland and Islay malts also Sainsburys Islay whisky.

If your friends have a taste for smoky Islay style whisky then the Tesco Islay is good value and everyone should like the Tesco Highland malt both are around £14 i believe.
