Hello everyone and apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this question.

Could anyone here be kind enough to advice me on the worth of my 70cl bottle of Loch Dhu Whisky?
It have owned it for a couple of years but it has become necessary to lighten my load!

The bottle is, of course, unopened. Thank in advance for any advice.

Kindest regards,
Victor.

You could use it to clean your drains......I'd strongly recommend against drinking it. It's really not very good at all.

Auction wise, you may get between £50 and £100 (if your very lucky). You'll have fees to pay on the sale, which can be up to 20%, plus your postage and insurance.

......or you could use it to clean your drains, which is about all the liquid is good for Laughing

Absolutely great you felt the need to add your unhelpful opinion and try sabotaging any chances of me offering the whisky here.
You obviously are quite a negative chap who often finds black clouds in silver linings.
Not sure about the forum rules here, but in other forums I partake in we refrain from speaking negatively about other members items..I was politely inquiring about the whisky's value, not your personal opinion, which you could have kept to yourself, as I , and suspect many more, care little to hear.
Sir I bid you a farewell and shall be revoking my membership forthwith.

Kindest regards.

Victor, I am not sure if you will still be around to read my reply but I thought I would post anyway.

Loch Dhu was a strange whisky, the Black Whisky, it got its name from its colour but it was never confirmed where it got its black colour, likely from large amounts of caramel colouring but it was also rumoured that much of the colour also came from double charred casks. Either way, it really wasn't liked by whisky critics or drinkers. But oddly in your favour the Loch Dhu, the Black Whisky from the Mannochmore distillery wasn't around for long and it kind of achieved a cult like status in certain marketplaces in the world such as the US. So you should have no problem selling it.

I haven't followed current auction prices but if you check out www.mctears.co.uk and www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com you may find some recent auctions.

Cheers

Woah there cowboy. You asked for an opinion. You got one, it is unfortunate that it was in your view unhelpful. If you just wanted positive reviews- you should have said.

You will find that whisky is just like life. Full of opinions. Everyone has and is entitled to one. No need to fall out over them. That said - please do close the door after you leave Smile
