|
|
Morning all
I usually buy single malt's at around the £30 to £35rrp mark, but often they're on offer so the purchase price is cheaper.
As Christmas is around the corner I am considering treading myself to a more expensive bottle for the festival period, something that retails between £40 and £50.
My criteria are:
- Must not be a NAS. I want to know the age!
- Non chill filtered
- Not sherry cask
Any suggestions?
My favourite tipples of all the single malts I've tried so far are:
- Aberfeldy
- Tobermory
- Dalwhinnie
I like some peat and smoke, but also some spice and sweetness.
All suggestions welcome!

Glenfiddich 15yo Distillery Edition. Usually £50, often down to £40ish this time of year.
Non chill filtered and 51%abv. Very good dram. I don't particularly enjoy fiddich, but I must say this is outstanding. _________________ "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough." |

Ledaig 10 Year Old - Decent, fits the criteria
But for a special Christmas Dram,
Edradour Bourbon Cask Matured Natural Cask Strength - Has an age statement as it tells you when it was distilled and bottles to the day - and is bloody wonderful! NCF too! |

£40 in Sainsburys currently and very good.
Stick to £30 and get this for example:

Or, consider getting IB bottlings of other distillers that you like.
My £50, if not on a sherried number might be the ancnoc 16 given that this may now be discontinued. Although might be slightly over £50. |

I agree with Opel, an excellent dram! _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Ticks all the boxes............
20yo Scotch Whisky from Mull, 70cl, 55.9%
This whisky has been lightly filtered to remove large particles of wood sediment from the cask, but may still contain small traces, which are visible only when bottle is left standing for a period of time.
Each bottle is individually numbered.
The cask yielded 247 x 70cl bottles at a natural cask strenght of 55.9% vol.

Try a Deanston as a good introduction. When I was over in the States earlier this year it was easily found and cheaper than back in Scotland which is just crazy! |
