Bladnoch Distillery is set the restart production following its acquisition by an Australian entrepreneur, with the SWA's former boss stepping in as non-executive director.

I wish them all the best but I'm not comfortable with Gavin Hewitt (former chief executive of the Scotch Whisky Association) at decision making position.

SWA is doing some great work regarding international protection of Scotch Whisky as brand but direct involvement of their management (or ex-management) with major whisky producers is IMO harmful for creativity and diversity of smaller ones.

Or maybe I'm just bias because I had great respect for former owner Raymond Armstrong:

Raymond is a very nice and infectious chap, it's a real shame he didn't get to run bladnoch the way he wanted to, many infuse I'll wish him all the best but it's time to move on and the only thing that counts is whisky flows from the stills at bladnoch, I only hope the new people make whisky as good as Raymond did... I look forward to sampling whisky again from bladnoch..

Good to hear it will be back up and running and that there will be some money behind it.

Good news, hopefully with some money behind Bladnoch we will see more available in the years to come. I wonder if the new owners acquired some maturing stock or if we will be waiting some time for a release.

Yes good news, I had heard this was happening , but you beat me to announcing it Diademo. It should be a good thing to have a bit of money behind the distillery. Hopefully they invest in some good casks to entertain us single malt whisky drinkers.

Good news for the future of Bladnoch Distillery.
The mystery men in the new position of master distiller is Ian Macmillan from Deanston (Burn Stewart Distillers).

"Burn Stewart Distillers' former master blender Ian Macmillan has joined the Bladnoch Distillery as master distiller, heading efforts to restart production at the historic site. Macmillan, who was also head of distilleries for Burn Stewart and has worked in the Scotch whisky industry for 40 years, will officially join the distillery in October 2015."?

That sounds like a very positive acquisition, although I'm gutted I didn't get the job, but I wish him all the luck... Can't wait to re visit bladnoch and buy some more whisky...

"None of the staff at Bladnoch distillery have yet had the courage to tell the new owner it is not a yoghurt factory."? Very Happy
