The Macallan Rare Cask Black joins the Macallan 1824 Masters Series, intriguingly the distillery describe it as being a dark, smoky and unexpected Macallan. The Macallan are not known for producing smoky whiskies and the reason this whisky is smoky is that it has been crafted predominately using First Fill sherry seasoned oak casks which contained extremely rare Macallan peated whisky.

Bottled at 48% ABV and non-chill filtered, Rare Cask Black is exclusive to Global Travel Retail with a RRP of £300/$450

I am sure the Dalmore collectors will snap this up, I wonder how smoky it is.

Wow!
I don't know whether this is scary or impressive...

http://www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com/auctions/93_the-55th-auction-runs-from-october-23-to-november-1-2015/78788_macallan-rare-cask-black/

This bottling just went at auction at almost twice the release price.
Less than a month since the release!

There are a lot of fanatical Macallan fans out there and with the Macallan Rare Cask Black being a travel exclusive Macallan and a smoky one at that it was always going to attract the Macallan fans with money to spend.

I would really love to get hold of a bottle myself. Has anyone spotted it in any UK airports yet?

I am hoping to pick up one or two bottles of this and would also be interested in knowing which airports it can be found in so as to let my family know where they can find it for me.

Yup - it's about. I have bought a couple of bottles. I can't believe how much it did at auction - definitely not worth that money.

£410 was the final price on Whisky Auctioneer, by next round of auctions the price will probably be around £350-£370.

I remember January Scotch Whisky Auctions with the Reflexion going for £1750 by the following auction it was £800 which is not even cost.
