Crown royal deluxe is a Canadian blended whisky, it comprises of 50 different Canadian whiskers. This tasting was done as part of a live Twitter tasting.. Thanks to Crown royal and Steve rush at the Whisky Wire for the sample..

Nose.. The nose is instantly sweet, lots of vanilla, toffee and natural sweet tannings, fresh fruits, pear and kiwi mingles with dried fruit and lots of oaky notes.

Palate.. The palate is youthful sweet and multilayered , creamy vanilla and toffee notes, a little coconut with vibrant fruity flavours. Lots of oak and a little grainy which makes it harsh but it works well..

Finish.. Medium, dry and oaky.

Thoughts.. My first adventure into Canadian whisky. This one has a lovely ever changing nose, it intrigues you, makes you hang around.. The palate was not as strong in my opinion, the youthful notes worked well with the grainy side, lots of sweetness and oaky tannings.. But overall a well balanced whisky worth having around.. Suits just about everyone's pocket..

Sorren, now you are venturing into my neck of the woods, Canada. Crown Royal was originally a holding of Seagram's owned by the Bronfman family in Montreal, my home town. It was produced since 1939. My father always had Crown Royal for special occasions. For a time in the 1970's I actually held stock in the Seagram's Company and it did very well for me. Seagram's dissolved its portfolio in 2000 and this blend is now owned by Diageo. Crown Royal is now produced out in Western Canada in Manitoba but for a time was produced in Waterloo, Ontario, about an hour's drive from here. I passed by the distillery many times. I know the whisky very well. The nose is a bit chameleon like which adds to its pleasure.

There are scores of Canadian whisky expressions and the Forty Creek Distillery which is 15 minutes from my home is a very popular Canadian whisky distillery and has won many awards. Several other distilleries in this area include Still Waters which is venturing into single malts and Dillon's. There are very many Canadian whisky expressions and some are utterly superb. Danfield's 21 Year is a gem.

Keep the reviews coming....

Very Happy

CR & Coke was my favorite while in high school. At $19/750 it's still a popular mixer.
Forty Creek and Lot 40 are on my list to try.
