|
|
I'm going to a an early Christmas party dinner this weekend at a local Italian restaurant here in Niagara. Out of curiosity, I telephoned and asked what single malts they had in their bar. I didn't expect too much really and actually was surprised with the list the young lady gave me on the phone, all one and a half ounce pours:
Glenfiddich 12, 14, 15 and 18 year
Glenlivet 12
Lagavulin 16
Balvenie 12
Talisker 10
Oban 14
Dalwhinnie 15
Cardhu 12 and
Mortlach Rare Old
Not bad at all, me thinks! _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| That is a nice selection to find in a restaurant, you find more and more restaurants and bars offering a better choice of single malts. I hope the pricing isn't over the top. |

Nice selection for (Italian) restaurant.
Ask them if they have whisky from rather new Italian distillery Puni. I've heard good things about it - but mostly from Italians. |

Hi Charlie, I only asked the price on some of them:
Glenfiddich 18 Year $15. CDN plus 13% tax for a total of $16.96 CDN..... 8.45 British pounds equivalent.
Lagavulin 16 Year $24. CDN plus 13 % tax for a total of $27.12 (quite steep..... 13.52 British pounds equivalent)). I had one at another restaurant here for $16. CDN a while back.
Talisker 10.....$17. CDN plus tax, total of $19.21 CDN or 9.58 pounds equivalent
Mortlach Rare Old.....$20. CDN plus tax, total of $22.60 CDN or 11.26 pounds equivalent
Glenfiddich 15.....$9.00 CDN plus tax, total of $10.17 CDN or 5.07 pounds equivalent
*******1 and 1/2 ounce pours
What do you think of the prices? _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

| November! I think there should be hefty penalties for Christmas parties outside of December. Such as only having Haig Club on the whisky gantry...! |

I would guess that it is like drinking sweet alcoholic water from premium blue glass packaging and not for anyone with an appreciation of a good whisky. |

| I'm really enjoying the bottle of Glenfiddich 14 rich oak that I have. Very good bang for the buck. |
